RG 22 - U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Administers federal laws and programs for the control and conservation of fish, game birds, and other forms of wildlife. Provides federal aid to the states for wildlife restoration. Manages a national wildlife refuge system.

General Correspondence

This series consists of general correspondence concerning routine actives of the regional office and includes copies of letters sent to other regional offices; federal, state and local agencies; and outside organizations and individuals.

RG 48 - Office of the Secretary of the Interior

Supervises all operations and activities of the Department of the Interior and its constituent units, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Minerals Management Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation; and, through the Office for Territorial and International Affairs, exercises departmental jurisdiction over U.S. dependencies. Supervised the U.S. Bureau of Mines and its predecessor, the Bureau of Mines, 1910-25 and 1934-96. Supervised the National Biological Service (NBS) and its predecessor, the National Biological Survey, November 11, 1993-September 30, 1996, when NBS was transferred to U.S. Geological Survey and redesignated Biological Resources Division, effective October 1, 1996, by Secretary's Order 3202, September 30, 1996.

Civil Defense

These series consist of plans and instructions for regional emergency operations. The records include implementation, staffing, coordination, and guidance material designed for state and local governments which are responsible for the operation of their government during an emergency.

They also include preliminary civil defense operational survival plans for communication, police, engineering, transportation, fire and rescue, manpower, health, and public information services for the Southeast.
Council and committee Files

This series consists of correspondence, water resource council reports, civil defense emergency plans and instructions, and the coordination of activities of the state and federal agencies.

  • Regional Coordinator Subject Files

    This series consists of record copies of materials used by the regional director, the Office of Emergency Planning, the office of Civil and Defense Mobilization, regional preparedness committees and regional civil defense coordinating boards. The materials include conference presentations, meeting agendas, and operation plans for defense mobilization, training exercises, alerting and warning systems, emergency power, water resource, preparedness and response to various biological, chemical, or nuclear disasters, and the and relocation of local governments.

Southeast Basin Interagency Committee

This series consists of administrative correspondence and reports concerning the Southeast Interagency Committee's procedures and programs for basin development. It includes coordination of policies, programs, and activities of the state and federal agencies in the field of water and related land resources investigation, planning, construction, operation, and maintenance.

RG 79 - National Park Service

Administers a system of national parks and similar reservations designated by statute, and national monuments and similar sites proclaimed by the President.

Administrative Files

This series consists of a broad range of administrative files including correspondence, memorandums, staff minutes, contracts, press releases, personal injury reports, annual reports, including reports to and from the Washington and the Regional offices, and correspondence to the park from the public. The files may cover such subjects as Mission 66 plans, park improvements, expansions, flood relief, personnel, fire prevention, and roads and trails improvement.

RG 414 - Regional Committees, Commissions, and Boards (U.s. Study commission-Southeast River Basins)

Established as a joint federal-state commission by an act of August 28, 1958 (72 Stat. 1090), to formulate plans for the conservation, utilization, and development of the land and water resources of specified river basin areas in AL, GA, FL, and SC. Terminated, December 23, 1962.

This series consists of maps and other visual material originating in the U.S. Study Commission showing land use, projected water way improvement, etc.
